Apple TV Plus: Price and Launch Date
Apple is set to release its streaming services in November 2019, and it will reportedly come at an initial price of $9.99 per month.
The company has yet to make any announcement on the say about the price and availability of the streaming service, despite announcing the streaming platform back in March 2019. Now the upcoming release slots put the streaming service head-on against Disney's forthcoming streaming platform Disney Plus. Launching as a rival to Disney Plus will be a gigantic task as the streaming service is coming with huge franchises under its belt. Disney Plus will include MCU, Pixar, Star Wars, and Disney Films in it. There will be several originals too, one of them being a Star Wars original.
Apple reportedly is looking at a $50 billion income in the annual revenue services by the end of 2020. So the release of the streaming platform will be an integral part of it. The service is set to begin with mere five shows.
- The Morning Show: Starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston.
- Jason Momoa Aquaman.
- Truth be told featuring Octavia Spencer.
- The revival of Amazing Stories by Steven Spielberg.
- A documentary by the name Home.
The lineup does not seem very strong when compared to its rivals, but the company has stated to release several other shows. The company, however, has tempted some big names like Oprah Winfrey, who would bring two separate documentaries to Apple TV Plus. Apple reportedly has already spent millions of dollars on the original five shows it intends to debut with.
Apple reported investing over $6 billion for original content, which is a humongous leap over it initially pledged $1 billion two years ago. But the amount still fades away in the light of Netflix's $14 billion spending this year along with Disney's expected $24 billion expenses. Disney has set the amount for the stream release and also for the theatrical release.
With that being said, Apple is not looking to launch any bundle later this year, which will surely make its five-show plan at the price of $10 per month a very hard sell. While its competitor Disney Plus is releasing with an initial amount of $6.99 a month, Disney Plus will also be available with ESPN's stripped version and Hulu for a minimal price of $12.99 a month.
If Apple wants to keep up with the competition, then it has to come up with improvised bundles and price strategies.
